The Cathy Zaccari Memorial (CZM) Foundation is a nonprofit organization that helps provide financial assistance to aspiring nursing students attending Hillsborough Community College. CZM was founded in 2009, two years after Brandon Regional Hospital RN, Catherine (Cathy) Zaccari unexpectedly passed away.
Cathy’s nursing career began in 1980 when she was a Licensed Practical Nurse. In 1987, Cathy became a Registered Nurse. Cathy supported Brandon Regional Hospital as a RN for 15 years. Her dedication, compassion, and warm demeanor inspired her family to create this organization in hopes of helping aspiring nurses achieve their goals and provide the same level of care as Cathy.
Since the first tournament in 2009, the CZM has raised more than $75,000 in nursing scholarships. These scholarships help cover the cost of tuition, labs, books, and other essential educational expenses.
The CZM is now under a new set of board members. We want to thank the original board members and founders of this organization that have worked tirelessly every year for the last 15 years to ensure nursing students have this opportunity. We hope to continue this legacy and raise even more funds for years to follow.
